My Big Ball

Hi Everyone,
I haven't been on the bloggy for a while cause I've been soooo busy. Just thought I should check in and update. I didn't get the special shoe so I just hop around very carefully. Some of my blog-friends out there told me about some good sites where mom ordered me some soft shoes that work pretty well. So thank you fans.
Since I came out of my "dark place" I like toys again. Jolly balls are some of my favorites. Its fun to run around and carry this in my mouth and show off (just like my old self).
Sampson, the Malamute is getting older and grouchier.
Roxie, my new friend (white German shepherd) is adapting so well now. She no longer panics and hurts herself. This makes all of us so happy.
And we keep having all these foster dogs moving in and out of our lives.

Get'n Fixed Up

You know I have this injury on my left hind foot. It was hurt in the terrible accident of November 10th. Its healed over but my foot is very sensitive - all that scar tissue stuff. And the new tissue is still fragile and ouchy.

That is why I have to wear the booties. Mom got these booties at the store but whatever kind she gets me just twist and turn, flop off, and worst of all don't help me on slippery surfaces. Its a real dilemma when you are a go-everywhere, do-everything guy like me!

EXCITING NEWS: The Alabama Artificial Limb Company is making a special prosthetic shoe for me. They've never done a dog shoe before so I'm an experiment. And I am sooooo special!

Here are pictures from Friday when they were measuring me. I wasn't sure about all this, but they promise it won't hurt.

Heroic Dog Performs Tracheotomy on Duck - SUCCESS!

Last night I had to help out poor Ducky. He squeeked everytime I bit him. I knew I had to immediately release the demon inside. So I chewed through his yellow neck and found the offensive squeeky. Mom took him away from me before I could finish my work. She always does that.

My Friend Daisy

Sunday I met Daisy. She's alot like me; sweet, smart, adorable, charming, and three-legged. Some of the humans thought I was going to eat her cause I'm so big and she is so small, but no-way. Here we are at Sunday afternoon playday swapping kisses. She had an accident too and had to say goodbye to her right hind-leg.

My Friend Millie

Yes, I'm finally getting my life back together. Here I am with Mom and my friend Millie, the Golden Retriever. Millie is teaching me to calm down. Sometimes I get too excited and hop (and flail) around and bark too much. She says "get over it, everything is good." Millie is a therapy dog for people who need some "dog lov'in" to help them get well. Thats what I want to do too. Maybe I can give some "dog lov'in" to people who have lost a leg.............

Look at me now! Upright and on the go! This is me 3 weeks ago. Stunning again, if I only have three legs. Awesome and daunting.

The New & Improved Turke

Around mid-February I started getting my ZING-BLING back. My body was finally strong enough that I could come off the strong medications: winstrol (anabolic steroid), antibiotics, painkillers....(too bad about the painkillers). So the humans began to wean me off of these with the doc's guidance. Just look at all this stuff!!! But I'm still on a strict wound-care protocol. I am such a good boy and I let everyone take care of me. I get lots of love.

Collar of Shame

I had to wear the "Collar of Shame" because I would chew my injured foot. I couldn't have any fun.

We tried a wheelchair. It didn't work too good. I hated it! So thank goodness Mom put it away. I had to show them I would do it without that contraption! What were they thinking?!?

November - the accident

Right after the accident I had to stay at the clinic for a week. But Mom and Dad came every morning and night and sat with me. I slept alot. After that they let me come home. Mom had to bring me back twice a day for dressing change to make sure I didn't get an infection. I weight 82 pounds. Mom and Dad had to carry me everywhere. They say I'm heavy. It hurt both of us. I couldn't be left alone because I became very anxious and tried to chew my foot so Mom stayed home from work alot. Daycare at the vet made me unhappy. Finally Dad took me to work with him for two months. That worked pretty good. I was very sad for a long time. I grieved for my lost leg.

I was in a horrible accident - but I'm recovering.

On November 10th I went out to get the paper (with Mom) and out of nowhere, barrelling down the road (way too fast) came the schoolbus. I tried to get out of the way but I slipped under the wheel. I lost my leg. The other foot was hurt too.

Turke is coming back

After a four month leave - Turke is gathering his courage to make a return to the blog. Still working on it. It's been a very difficult time.
